The ScalingFactor
is a multiplication factor that is applied to all coordinates read from the GDS2 file before any transformations. It allows to quickly convert between units of the GDS2 and the UnitOfLength. Data is imported from GDS2 in absolute coordinates and the UnitOfLength is not applied automatically. For examply your GDS might contain nanometer scale structures and your layout is defined in microns. In this case all dimensions need to be scaled by to convert the scales.
